I am a general engineering contractor in northern California ive been hand loading since the 62 rifle and hand gun only. After the war Yugoslavia actually had no remaining capacity to build complete rifles and technology to do so must be re-developed and relearned by craftsmen. In 1941 the number code was replaced by the letter code and a further change was made in the latter part of the war when a new system of letter code was adopted. Note 2: Chda displayed from 70K to high 0s put the numbers at the variant of about 17K. There was some variation in the labeling at first but about 95 percent of the C-96 s they made after production settled down have Mauser drawings on top of the dish just above the chamber and on the right side of the frame.
